ABOUT ROBYN

Originally studying as an actor, Robyn always had a passion for making her own work and loved taking on devised and collaborative projects. After working as an actor on a Straight 8 film for Channel 4 in 2023, she was inspired to make her own the following year and made her official directorial debut with the short Scrub Me, Daddy; which she wrote, directed and shot. The film kickstarted not just her love of directing, but also an obsession with Super 8 and celluloid, which she has been exploring ever since. Her films have shown at the BFI IMAX, Festival De Cannes, Cannes Lions and the Prince Charles Cinema among many other venues and festivals across the world. She is particularly passionate about female led, ensemble and queer stories, as shown in her latest short Immodest which was inspired by real diary entries from nuns living in the 17th century. Alongside developing this story further, she is currently in the middle of festival runs for two more short films Flying Duo and Magic 8. Her passion for storytelling extends to the world of theatre, and she also recently directed a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Iconic Bush Theatre for Compass Collective. She is returning to The Bush again this year for the same charitable cause, this time working on Hamlet, A 70s Tragedy.
